Richardson Independent School District, Texas

Richardson Independent School District (RISD) first implemented the TI MathForward program in 7th and 8th grades for the 2005-2006 school year and has continued to expand the program due to strong results.

In RISD, program results relating to student performance are based on scores and pass rates on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS™) for 2006 and 2007 as RISD expanded the program.

  • In RISD, MathForward students gained on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS™), while the district as a whole declined slightly.
  • In RISD, the MathForward pilot program showed learning gains both for students who were above and below the TAKS™ proficiency level in the previous year.  Thus, the program is not just a remedial program, but helps students in a broad range of achievement levels.

In RISD, the subset of MathForward students who failed the TAKS™ in the previous year gained more on the TAKS™ than similar students district-wide.  This result was not due to chance.

School District of Palm Beach County, Florida

The School District of Palm Beach County (SDPBC) first implemented the TI MathForward pilot program in the 8th grade for the 2006-2007 school year with positive results leading them to expand the program.

First year program results relating to student performance are based on scores and proficiency rates on Florida’s Comprehensive Assessment Test® (FCAT) for 2007 compared to the prior year.

Euclid City School District, Ohio

Euclid City School District (ESCD) first implemented the TI MathForward pilot program in 7th and 8th grades at two middle schools for the 2006-2007 school year.  Gains reported for the MathForward pilot classes were dramatic.

In ECSD, 2007 1st year results are based on a comparison of 2007 and 2006 proficiency rates on the annual mathematics assessment test, the Ohio Achievement Test (OAT) given in grades 3-8 annually.  While the schools were performing below state targets, classes targeted for MathForward participation were performing significantly lower before the program.

While all classes made proficiency gains in comparison from 2006 to 2007, the gains made by the MathForward pilot classes were dramatic – a 250% increase for 7th graders and a 400% increase for 8th graders.
